Allies in Arts

On February 5, 2017, Allies in Arts hosted a panel on Intersectional Feminism at the Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles, CA.

The panel

Moderated by Kamal Sinclair (Sundance New Frontier), the panel featured artists Silas Howard (director, Transparent), Tani Ikeda (filmmaker, founder of a imMEDIAte justice), and Nolwen Cifuentes (photographer). The panel examined how LGBTQ+, women's rights, and POC movements can work together in the coming years — specifically how artists who identify as women, POC and/or LGBTQ can affect culture and how institutions can best support these voices.

Despite the event taking place on Super Bowl Sunday, the Annenberg was over capacity with a standing room only crowd and audience members lined up around the building. Due to the involvement of Allies in Arts, the Annenberg featured the work of several queer and trans-identified artists in their first ever exhibition featuring only the work of female and trans-identified photographers.
