As long as there’s discrimination, we need Allies. Let’s even the odds. Together.
Allies in Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to support womyn/women, people of color (POC) and LGBTQQIA2S-identified artists (all of whom are underrepresented individuals in the industry) by granting them access to funding, professional equipment and services to produce and distribute original works.
Statistics prove that womyn, POC and queer-identified artists face barriers in the professional world as a direct result of their gender, race, and sexual orientation. We break down those barriers by pairing artists with exhibition spaces, studios, service providers, gear owners, and grantors who have access to the very items that are often prohibitively expensive for these underrepresented artists - as well as to the people who can hire them.
We are proud to partner with SONY Pictures on our signature screening series Reel Her In.
We have also worked with The Annenberg Space for Photography during the #girlgaze exhibition for our Intersectional Feminism Panel.
LGBTQQIA2S stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and 2-spirited. We support artists who identify under any of these terms as well as folks who identify as gender non-conforming, gender fluid, and any other gender and sexual orientation under the rainbow.
POC stands for People of Color. We support artists who identify as people of color.
Queer is becoming an umbrella term used to signify all folks who identify under the LGBTQQIA2S acronym. We support all artists who identify as queer and/or LGBTQQIA2S.
