THE MISSION

Allies in Arts is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization. Our mission is to support womyn/women, people of color (POC)POC stands for People of Color. We support artists who identify as people of color. and LGBTQQIA2SLGBTQQIA2S stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and 2-spirited. We support artists who identify under any of these terms as well as folks who identify as gender non-conforming, gender fluid, and any other gender and sexual orientation under the rainbow.-identified artists (all of which are underrepresented individuals in the industry) by granting them access to funding, professional equipment and services to produce and distribute original works. Statistics prove that womyn, POC and queerQueer is becoming an umbrella term used to signify all folks who identify under the LGBTQQIA2S acronym. We support all artists who identify as queer and/or LGBTQQIA2S.-identified artists face barriers in the professional world as a direct result of their gender, race, and sexual orientation. We break down those barriers by pairing artists with service providers, gear owners, and grantors who have access to the very items that are often prohibitively expensive for these underrepresented artists.

The Backstory

In our experience as artists and businesswomen, we noticed a trend of womyn, POCPOC stands for People of Color. We support artists who identify as people of color. and queerQueer is becoming an umbrella term used to signify all folks who identify under the LGBTQQIA2S acronym. We support all artists who identify as queer and/or LGBTQQIA2S. artists constantly asking for favors in order to produce their work - access to a camera, a location, a recording studio, legal contracts, etc. Institutional discrimination means it typically takes these underrepresented artists longer to establish financial security. Such passionate artists don’t stop making their work because they don’t have access to financing, but they eventually get tired of asking for favors.

Enter Allies in Arts.  Rather than asking for favors, artists become grantees - being honored for the quality of their work and for their vision. On the flip side - we're teaming up with professional Partners to help facilitate artists grants that will allow new works to come into the world.

As long as there’s discrimination, we need Allies. Let’s Even the Odds. Together.
